When I started this blog, I wanted to fully share my experience of moving to and living in China. I wanted to share pictures, stories, the culture shock, all of it.
I did a pretty good job of blogging when I lived in Italy so I figured it wouldn't be much of a problem here. But obviously that isn't the case. I haven't updated in a month. A freaking month. I'm the worst.
I really am sorry for the lack of communication, particularly because the time difference makes it so hard to keep in touch. Let me give you a quick update of what the last few months have entailed:
- Work: After that vacation, I went back to work with some real tension between my boss and the rest of the teachers at our school. I have grown to really like teaching because I can truly see the progress that my students are making, but politics within the school were out of control and made things a bit miserable. They have recently been much better and I can say that I can just do my job every day and have fun with it.
- Personal Life: I've been dating a guy here for about three months now. He's German, lives in a different city and is a breath of fresh air from the other expats here.
- Health: Some people gain weight here. Some lose weight. I've lost almost ten pounds since I've moved to China. This is more than I would like to have lost, so I've started looking into ways to prevent losing any more weight. I've got lots of healthy, healthy friends. Any suggestions?
- Moving Home Again: When I first moved to China, I was open to the idea of staying abroad for two years. A move to a new continent is a big effort for just one year. But since I left San Diego a year and a half ago, the desire to go back has only increased. So in September, once my contract has ended, I'll go home and plot a move to the West coast. This means I will see a lot of people again soon (ish!)
I'll have another update soon. This past weekend, I went to a fish market in Zhuhai where my boyfriend lives and took a crazy number of pictures of strange, strange things. I'm excited to share!
