But that was just part of a generally bizarre weekend. (Pictures below.)
After the longest bus ride, we had a massive sea-side meal followed by a visit to a Buddhist temple and then a ride on a traditional fishing boat. Holy smokes, those boats. I have feared for my life a few times. Maybe while rock climbing or driving through Colorado's mountains in the winter. You wouldn't think getting on a boat would be added to the list but damn, I was worried. The entire "boardwalk" swayed with the ocean waves and the actual plank used to board the boat bounced up and down so that making it to your seat felt like an Olympic event. It was also hilarious, obviously. The only option I had was to laugh as I wobbled my way onto the boat.
Making it back to shore, our group went to the beach and then had a Chinese barbecue while watching the sun set. Hard life, you know? The next day, after an adventurous night out, we made our way to a Chinese park, full of lotus flower ponds, old men playing instruments that allegedly scare demons away and plenty of hilarious signs that I obviously have to share with you.
