Yes! I will actually be in Asia again! Inspired after helping a friend book a trip to Europe and fueled by a rather strong drink, I booked a flight to the other side of the world. I'll be in yet another country whose language I don't know, script I can't read and culture I know nothing of (save for the food.)
Wasn't it just four months ago that I got back to the States? Wasn't it five months ago that I was counting down the days? Six months ago that I was unbelievably anxious to be somewhere and actually understand what the hell is happening?
But it was also six months ago that I backpacked through China by myself. That I met friends who I climbed the Great Wall with. I ate scorpions, sang karaoke, stood along the iconic Bund in Shanghai. Wasn't it a year ago that I found myself in the Philippines? And discovered a part of the world I never expected to?
All of these things are true. But after four months of being back in the States, my homesickness is cured and I'm ready to get going again. So on April 11th, I'll be heading on out to Bangkok and will arrive the day before the traditional Thai New Year, Songkran.
I've always wanted to go to Thailand and now in a new kind of year, I finally will. I can't wait for this next adventure!
